Stoneware
Stoneware was the first clay I used and I love the earthy natural look of the finished pieces. As with all my work my styles do change a lot but I do love the copper-red glaze against the 'toast' coloring of the Spanish clay I use.
Of late I have started spending more time carving and minimizing the glaze applied, going more and more for a natural stone look to the work.
All my stoneware work is bisque fired in a electric kiln to 960 degrees. Once fired the work is sanded and washed. Glaze is then applied and re-fired to 1260 degrees.
