The Dutch Dragon – Commission piece

After seeing my work at a show and admiring the work on show and in my portfolio this Dutch client commissioned me to creat a large sculptural dragon that was for there lounge in a new house they were buying. After giving some ‘ball park’ estimates I produced a selection of drawing. I was delighted when they chose a dragon in my style rather than a more traditional dragon.

It was a mamoth built that stretched me technically and logistically.

This piece is constructed using all three of my building skills:- Coiling, slabbing and Throwing with carving and additions added after the main construction was completed.
Glazed and fired to stoneware in sections. The dragon also has 5 LED spots in base plus internal lighting in central tower
