Wassail Cup – Commission piece

This was a commission, the brief was that the clients wanted a cup form that could be used to be a usable part of Wassail celebrations, it should be multi handled and portray a apple tree, the green man and part of a poem.I supplied 3 drawings so the client could select the one of her choice.

The main cup is ‘thrown’ with the base slabbed and coiled, carving and additions were applied to main body with hand carved lettering around top. The 6 handles form part of the branch design. The piece has been ‘stoneware’ fired so is totally food safe.

As you may of guessed the client was was very happy with the finished piece and has taken part in many ceremonies and is on display throughout the year.
